These is 40th birthday tradition that has been created to collect all the childhood photos, adolescence, and everything else into a special album. It actually started with the parents' 40th wedding anniversary, where I took over all the albums that they had, took all the photos, and started scanning and saving digitally. So it turned out that I had all the pictures, and I decided that in honor of my siblings' and my 40th birthdays, everyone would receive an album with all of their pictures ...

It started with us, but very quickly became a tradition: friends, sisters-in-law, parents (on other round birthdays like 70 for example), everyone got such an album.

This is a non-trivial project because it requires access to childhood photos, and usually it's a surprise.

The steps in the project:

Photo collection - both printed and digital
Scan the printed images
Sorting - Arranging by periods more or less, if there is information about years it is even better
Album design - at first the projects were relatively simple - included only photos. Over time I found a theme close to the celebrant's heart (favorite songs, favorite singer, jokes, information clips, etc.) and incorporated it into the album. It also required quite a bit of work, but made the album more meaningful and personal.
Writing a greeting - here I usually get help from my partner, who is really good at writing, usually in rhymes
Printing - Printing the album is very simple, and receiving it within a few days to a week. Of course I printed myself a copy of every album I made.

I like to use the services of the cbook company, they are fast, the cheapest (and I check them against the competition every year), and professional. It happened a few times that the album did not come out properly, or the pictures came out dark, and they printed me out again at their expense with no problem. You should follow the competitors' promotions, sometimes there are cool promotions - Lupa sometimes has really cool promotions on large square albums, which I like to use for special events like bat mitzvahs and serious anniversaries (and trips abroad, because of the landscape photos).
